Sometimes I Draw Males

and I should do more

Nature has always fascinated me. And especially the human body. Animal forms also intrigue me, but I’ve had fewer opportunities in my projects or series to give them a central place—though I have created several works featuring horses and cats. In fact, I’ve just started a new series on dogs… but today, I want to focus on the male body and my approach to it.

It’s true that I’m more recognized, or perhaps better known, for my depictions of women. Yet I approach the male body in the same way: as it is, without detour, with beauty, with strength or power—often—but also with grace, or at least the grace I see, want to see, or want to show.

There’s also the fact that most of these drawings were intended for Instagram, and as you know, nudity—or certain interpretations of it—are banned and can, without warning, lead to your account being suspended. This has happened to too many friends and artists I know or follow. It’s also one of the reasons I no longer post as much as I used to on Instagram (one of my horse drawings once triggered alerts from Meta, groundlessly, with no way to explain or contact a responsible party, because there isn’t one).

That’s why most of the poses are from the back. So if any of you would like to see more, or want commissions, don’t hesitate to contact me or leave a note on this post.

Most often, I use brush pens. They allow me to vary and amplify the muscles, the prominent curves, the line of the spine, the shape of the thighs, the start of the nape, and the hands—whether as endpoints or as reference points in the pose. They’re also perfect for shadows, accentuating volumes, like carving stone, sculpting on paper, or revealing a mental image. Almost like a bas-relief on ancient facades.
