With summer settling in just about everywhere, I wanted to revisit a drawing I made over two years ago in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. To do this, I decided to recreate it with you, but using different materials, which allows me to reinvent myself. Especially since this time, I need to do it horizontally to match Substack’s video formats.

For this, I used two brush pens—ink brushes from Sennelier in Paris—but I think they can be easily found in good art supply stores. If that’s not possible for you, you can use colored inks, sticking to a single color, or alcohol-based markers in a similar shade. Or any other color you have on hand or prefer. You’ll see two versions of the park.

For the first one, I started by composing the scene in my mind, placing the verticals of the tree trunks to more or less correctly establish the perspective of the location. It has to understand the perspective but not obviously like streets or architecture drawings. Even if the rules of lines are the sames. Then, I added the furniture elements.

After that, I used a blue color to mark the figures. Though, I could have done everything in green as well. It doesn’t matter if they’re friends or lovers. You have to stay vague.
